This rainbow jelly watermelon candy dessert is colorful and creative. When I came across this tutorial by Yay! Fun Times on YouTube, I thought it was a cool way to use the watermelon peel as a placement to hold the jelly together. At first, I thought it was unusual, but this is a great DIY to do with the kids. Personally, I love all types of jello and it’s so fast to make. I think I would use sugar-free jello because it’s healthier, and not as sugary. This is a nice summer dessert, and you can recreate this jello dessert to look like a real watermelon inside. For example, in this tutorial, she also teaches how to make watermelon jello slices that look realistic.

Ingredients:

  • variety of jello flavors
  • condensed milk
  • whole watermelon
  • water

Directions:

First, boil the packs of jello on the stovetop with water, let it dissolve and sit. Cut the watermelon in half and scoop out the fruit into a bowl or container for later.

Next, mix your jello pack and water with condensed milk and pour it in the empty watermelon peel. Let that sit in the refrigerator for 25 minutes. Once the jello solidifies, continue to add the colors of the rainbow until it’s filled up.

Note: be careful when slicing the rainbow jelly watermelon dessert because it’s flimsy. The jello can fall right off the watermelon peel. I think when you cut these in slices, they turn out pretty neat to see all the layers of color. I love anything rainbow, so it was nice to see the end results. If I were to make this jelly watermelon candy, it would be gone in seconds. Jello is so easy to eat, and I love all flavors.
