I love how simple these are to make and how flavorful they are. This recipe is one of my favorite snack recipes and it’s a staple in my kitchen. You should definitely give this a try! Watch the video below to learn the easy to follow recipe.
Crack two large eggs and add 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 1/2 tbsp Dijon mustard, and 1/2 tsp cracked black pepper. Mix until well blended and set aside. Combine 1/4 cup light brown sugar, 1 tbsp crushed red pepper flakes, and 1/2 tbsp smoked paprika in another bowl and mix well. Now, flour your working surface, lay the puff pastry sheet, sprinkle some flour, and roll it to flatten it out. After this, brush one side with the egg wash, then sprinkle the brown sugar mixture all over the puff pastry followed by the shredded cheese.
Now, take the other puff pastry sheet, place it over the top, and gently press them together. (Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F at this point). Cut the puff pastry into thin strips, then take one, twist them in the opposite direction, then pinch the edges to keep it in place. Place it in a parchment paper-lined baking tray. Repeat these steps until you finish twisting the strips. Once done, brush each straw with egg wash to coat the top. Place them in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes.
