In this tutorial, Missouri Star will teach you how to make the block that will make up this quilt. So, gather your fabrics and quilting essentials and start making this lovely quilt today! Learn how by watching the video below for the step by step instructions.

Materials:

  • 1 pack of 10″ print squares
  • 1 1/4 yards of light accent fabric
  • 3/4 yard binding fabric
  • 4 yards of background fabric
  • 1 1/4 yards dark accent fabric
  • 2 1/2 yards 108″ wide backing

Directions:

Step 1

Cut some 10″ squares and  4 1/2″ squares from your background fabric and set them aside. Next, pair a fabric from your layer cake with the 10″ square you cut, right sides together, then mark from corner to corner with two lines diagonally. Sew on both sides of both lines. Once done, cut it in half vertically and horizontally, then cut in between the seams you just sew. Press them open afterwards and square them up to 4 1/2″. You’ll need ten half-square triangles per block.

Step 2

Now, start laying out the block. Start with the darker accent fabric, two half-square triangles, and then a white square. Next row: half-square triangle, accent fabric, and two half-square triangles. Third row: two half-square triangles, light accent fabric, and another half-square triangle. Fourth row: white square, two half-square triangles, and a dark accent fabric. Sew the pieces together to make the rows, and then sew those rows together to complete the quilt block.
