Ingredients: 

  • 2/3 cup of softened butter
  • 1 minced garlic clove
  • 4 tbsp. of cornstarch, whisked
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Peppercorns ground finely
  • milk with reduced fat, 2 glasses
  • 2 cups of white cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Yako gold potatoes in 5 cups of finely diced slices

Directions: 

Set the oven temperature to 350°Farennheit.

Over low heat, melt the butter in a large saucepan. Add the garlic and cook for a further one minute. In a bowl, combine the cornstarch, sea salt, and peppercorns.

Bring the milk to a boil, one tablespoon at a time. The sauce should thicken in around two to three minutes of continual stirring.

Remove from the heat and stir in 1 1/2 cups of the cheese until completely melted and smooth.Add the potatoes to the mix.

Spray a 2-quart baking dish with cooking spray and transfer the contents. Sprinkle the rest of the cheese on top. Bake it, covered, for 30 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. For a further 30–45 minutes, remove the lid and continue baking until the potatoes are soft and the sauce is bubbling.

Remove it from the oven and leave it to cool for 5 to 10 minutes before slicing to serve.
