Have you ever tried a ramen egg before? If you haven’t, you definitely should try it now! It is the best and is one of my favorite ways to cook eggs. They are savory, creamy, and delicious – perfectly cooked with the egg yolks still runny! I always order them from Japanese restaurants and they never disappoint. You can eat it with your ramen or enjoy it as a snack.

These delicious soft-boiled eggs are also known as Ajitsuke Tamago or Ajitama in Japanese. You will get these mostly in Japanese ramen restaurants in your area. But you no longer have to go out to buy them, as you can make them in the comforts of your home with this perfect ramen eggs recipe by Just One Cookbook. They are super easy to prepare and only require 5 ingredients – soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, and eggs. You can find the ingredients in the Asian section of your grocery. Easy Ramen Eggs Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs (refrigerated)

For the marinade:

  • 4 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoon of mirin
  • 4 tablespoons of sake or water
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar

How to Make Ramen Eggs

Step 1:

Start by bring water to a boil.

Step 2:

In a different small pot, add 4 tablespoons of soy sauce, 4 tablespoons of mirin, 4 tablespoons of sake, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Place it over medium heat, mix until the sugar dissolves, then bring it to a boil. Remove from heat.

Step 3:

When the water is boiling on the other pot, add the cold eggs. Boil for 7 minutes. Make sure they are submerged. Roll them gently with chopsticks so egg yoks stay centered. Once done, transfer the eggs into an ice bath and let them sit for 15 minutes.

Step 4:

After 15 minutes, peel the shell from the eggs. Place them into a ziplock bag, then place on a deep small square plastic container so the eggs are in a single layer. Pour the marinade over the eggs, make sure they are fully submerged. Remove the air from the plastic bag then seal it. Using a food plastic clip, clip the plastic bag as close to the marinade to keep the eggs in place. Place in the refrigerator for 8 hours.

Step 5:
