Going out for a picnic or a party? Whatever the occasion these appetizing and flavorful rolls will please any crowd. This amazing french sauce is nothing you have ever tasted before. And with the caramelized onion together with cheese and beef fillings, you’ll fall more deeply in love with this recipe. Read on to learn how to make pastrami sandwich sliders, wonderfully made by Natashas Kitchen. It’s super easy and quick to prepare!



  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 large or 2 medium yellow onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of sugar
  • 1 oz packet of au jus mix (made according to package instructions) or you can use beef stock powder sauce
  • 3 cups of water
  • 16 Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 1/4 cup of mayo
  • 1 lb of deli pastrami or roast beef (thinly sliced)
  • 9 slices of mild provolone cheese (not aged)
  • 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter (melted, plus more to grease the baking sheet)
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds

Step 1:

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F, then butter a rimmed baking sheet.

Step 2:

Get a large skillet and place it over medium/high heat. Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil and put 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the sliced onions and saute for 5 minutes or until softened. Stir it occasionally. Next, sprinkle sugar and sautee for 5 more minutes until caramelized and golden. Once done, transfer to a plate.

Step 3:

Using the same pan, pour 2 1/2 cups of water, then scrape the pan to deglaze. Add the au jus seasoning and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer (follow the package instructions). Add more water if needed.

Step 4:

Cut the Hawaiian buns in half. Place the bottom half on the buttered baking sheet then spread mayo on them. Place the folded slices of beef evenly over the rolls. Then put the caramelized onions over the sliders. Top the beef with sliced provolone.

Step 5:

Place the top half of the buns and brush with 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Immediately sprinkle with sesame seeds and place in the oven. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees F for 1215 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the top is golden brown.

Step 6:

Using a serrated knife, separate into individual sliders. Serve with the warm au jus dip. Enjoy!
