  • 3 cans of pinto beans, cooked
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (or honey)
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup liquid smoked sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup yellow mustard
  • 1 smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1/2 cup diced bacon
  • 1/2 cup of chopped onions
  • 1 cup chopped green bell peppers
  • salt and ground black pepper, to taste

Directions:

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F. Next, prep and chop all the ingredients and set them aside. Now, saute the chopped onions, chopped bell peppers, and diced bacon in a large saucepan until caramelized and the bacon is cooked through. After this, add the sliced smoked sausage, three cans of pinto beans, 1/4 cup yellow mustard, 1/4 cup light brown sugar, 1/3 cup liquid smoked sauce, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1/4 cup maple syrup, 1 cup of thick BBQ sauce, and 1/2 cup ketchup. Mix everything well and season with some salt and ground black pepper.

Step 2

Once done, transfer the bean mixture to your casserole dish and spread it evenly. Lastly, top everything with a layer of slices of bacon. Put the casserole in the preheated 325 degrees F oven uncovered and bake for 45 minutes to one hour. After baking, let it sit for five minutes, then mix everything well. Serve and enjoy!
