It’s that time of the year to find drinks to make to cheers to the New Year. This NYE champagne cocktail recipe by Honeysuckle on YouTube is a simple recipe that makes champagne a little fancier. Champagne is nice to have and it’s a traditional drink for New Years’, but I don’t think it’s exquisite enough to celebrate all of the achievements.  This recipe is a classic vintage champagne cocktail. I think this would be a great idea to make this with a group of girls and they are picture worthy drinks too instead of plain glasses of champagne. The sugar cube is an interesting idea, but I like the concept of adding the bitters to soak up the flavor. It’s an easy recipe to follow, and you just add all of the ingredients in your own glass.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sugar cube per glass
  • aromatic bitters, 2-3 drops
  • lemon twist
  • dry, brut champagne or sparkling wine
  • raspberries or strawberries

Directions:

First, add the sugar cubes to the glass and add a few drops of bitters to them. This will add complex flavors to the cocktail. Let that soak through the sugar cube.

Next, make a lemon twist with a paring knife by shaving it in a spiral pattern. Set that aside to garnish later, and fill the glass with your choice of bubbles.

Note: use a more dry prosecco because the sugar cubes will make the cocktail sweet. Also, adding fruits to this cocktail will add extra flavor and color to the drink. Overall, this is a great recipe if I want something a little sweet and fruity than plain champagne in a glass. The presentation of this cocktail is pretty too. I will be making this drink because it’s cute and festive for the New Year.
