If you like to learn crocheting and are looking for the perfect project to start, I recommend this no magic ring mini heart crochet from VivCrochets on YouTube. You’ll surely get the hang of crocheting with this simple project, and it will get you ready for bigger and more complicated crocheting projects in the future. Watch the video tutorial below to learn the step by step instructions.

Materials:

  • 3.5 mm hook
  • scrap yarn

Directions:

Step 1

Hold your yarn with the end near the bottom, then wrap it around two fingers to form an X. Now, grab your hook, go under over, and grab that piece of yarn through. After this, pull your fingers out and pull the knot tight, then chain five. Next, work in the third chain to make double crochet. Insert the hook, yarn over, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two, yarn over, then pull through the last two loops. Do two more into that same chain space. For the next chain, you’ll work a single crochet. Insert the hook into that chain, yarn over, pull through, and yarn over and pull through the two loops on your hook.

Step 2

In the next chain, you’re going to work two slip stitches. Insert your hook, yarn over, pull up the loop, then pull that loop through the first loop on your hook. Do that one more time. Now, work on the other side of the starting chain. Insert your hook into that same chain that you single-crocheted into earlier. After this, do your single crochet, then go into the next chain and do your three double crochets. (While you work the stitches on this side of the chain, you can carry the tail of your starting chain while you make your stitches.)

Step 3

Once done, chain two and slip stitch into that same chain that you double-crochet three into. This will make the top of the heart have a curved shape and it replicates the other side of the heart. Now, cut the the yarn and tie the two loose ends into a major project like a Valentines’ card or a teddy bear for gifting.
