How to Make Yeast Dinner Rolls
Step 1:
Add the flour to the bowl of your stand mixer. You can also use a bowl and a handheld mixer.
Step 2:
In a measuring cup, add the lukewarm water or milk, followed by the sugar and yeast. Mix and set aside for 8 to 10 minutes.
Step 3:
Add the salt, white granulated sugar, and egg. Whisk on low speed until just combined. Scrape the sides.
Step 4:
Add the yeast mixture to the flour, then mix on low speed. While mixing, add the melted butter.
Step 5:
Change into the hook attachment and mix until it forms into a ball. Flour your work surface, then place the dough. Turn it around several times until it’s not sticky. Place in a greased bowl, then flip it over. Cover with a damp tea towel. Place in a cold oven and let it rise for an hour. Do not turn on the oven.
Step 6:
Punch it a few times to release air bubbles. Transfer to your work surface. Form into balls of the same size. Place in a baking dish lined with aluminum foil. Cover with a tea towel and place back in the cold oven. Let them rise for 35 minutes.
Step 7:
Brush the top of the rolls with melted butter. Bake at 400F preheated oven for 20 to 22 minutes. Brush butter on top again. Let them sit in the pan for 5 minutes, then serve.
