Easy Cinnamon Apple Cake Ingredients
For the apples:
- 3 tablespoons and 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
- 2 apples (peeled and diced)
- 1 tablespoon of flour (optional – to keep the apples from sinking to the bottom)
For the cinnamon sugar topping:
- 3/4 cup of light brown sugar (packed)
- 2 tablespoons of cinnamon
- 1/2 cup and 1 tablespoon of melted butter
Cake batter:
- 2 1/4 cups of plain flour
- 3/4 cup and 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar
- 4 teaspoons of baking powder
- 1 1/4 cup of whole milk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 2 large eggs (lightly beaten)
- 1/2 cup of butter (melted)
Glaze:
- 1 1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons of icing sugar
- 2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons of milk
How to Make Cinnamon Apple Cake
Step 1:
Make the filling. In a bowl, mix the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and flour (optional). Next, add the peeled and diced apples. Mix until everything is coated. Set aside.
Step 2:
Make the topping. In a bowl, add light brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter. Stir until well combined.
Step 3:
For the cake batter. In a different bowl, add plain flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, milk, vanilla, and 2 large eggs. Mix until combined, then stir in the melted butter.
Step 4:
Add the coated apples to the cake batter. Mix until well incorporated.
Step 5:
Line a baking pan with parchment paper on all sides. Transfer the cake batter. Dollop the topping into the cake, then swirl it with a knife.
Step 6:
Bake in the oven at 320F (fan) for about 40 to 45 minutes.
Step 7:
Make the glaze by combining all ingredients in a bowl. Once the cake is done baking, pour the glazing on top while it’s still warm. Let it set for around 20 minutes.
