Ever wondered why it is called Mississippi mud? It’s because it looks like the banks of the Mississippi River. But rest assured, the taste is amazing and does not contain any mud. The name may sound unappealing, but I am sure it caught your attention.

It is the absolute treat for all marshmallows and chocolate lovers. The brownie layer is fudgy and crunchy, the marshmallow layer is soft, and the icing is silky and rich. You can never go wrong with this recipe. I am sure everyone will love it, especially the kids.

Preheat your oven to 320F.
In a large bowl, add flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, firmly packed brown sugar, and salt. Whisk to combine.
Add melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
Mix in the diced almonds.
Grease a springform pan and transfer the mixture. Place inside the preheated oven and bake for about 35 minutes on the bottom shelf. It is okay if it becomes slightly undercooked.
Once done baking, remove from the oven and fill the top with marshmallows. Place back in the oven for 4 minutes. After that, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes.
In a small saucepan over heat, add the butter. Once melted, add the milk and cocoa powder. Whisk to combine. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes while continuously stirring. Turn the heat off and add to a mixing bowl. Add the icing sugar and combine using a hand mixer.
Pour the chocolate sauce over the melted marshmallows. Spread evenly. Let it set for a couple of minutes.
Slice and serve. Enjoy!
