I love personalized embroidery on shirts, towels, bathrobes, purses, and just about anything else you can imagine. Doing machine embroidery was always something I wanted to do, but I had so many questions as to how to go about it. Questions like, how to hoop your design, when to hoop your design, and how to get your design where you want it. So I went searching on the internet for answers and I found a wonderful beginner’s machine embroidery video tutorial by Lorrie Nunemaker on Youtube that made it all make sense. I couldn’t wait to get started on this new adventure.

Materials:

  • Tear-away stabilizer
  • A scrap piece of fabric (get started with a scrap, not something you value)
  • Curved scissors (to cut threads inside your hoop)
  • An embroidery machine
  • A stabilizing hoop

One of Lorrie’s first tips is to use the curved scissors because you will need to be cutting inside the embroidery hoop while your project is on the machine.
