Is there an outlet around your home that won’t hold a plug whatever you do? Well, it may have gone loose because of using it too much over time. But don’t worry because you can fix it on your own through this video tutorial by Everyday Home Repairs on YouTube.
Step 1
The first thing that you have to do is to test whether the outlet is safe to remove from the wall. Once you’re sure that it’s safe, then start to loosen up the screws around the outlet, and carefully pull it out from the wall. Remove the wires carefully using pliers and a screwdriver making sure to avoid skin contact as much as possible for safety precautions. Open the outlet and check what’s wrong inside. Most probably, you may have loose clearances that opened way wide because of using it consistently over time that’s why it’s not holding the prong of your plug.

Step 2
If this is the case, then change the outlet into tamper-resistant ones, and start installing it on the wall. Remember that the gold screws are on the hot side and the silver ones are neutral. Cut the previous ends of the wire and strip them to the correct sizes, then make sure to match the amp of the outlet that you’re replacing. First, hook the ground wire around the ground screw using pliers, then close it securely and tightly. Next, insert the hot wires through the hot screw terminals and around them before tightening the screws, then repeat the process to the silver or neutral side. Push the outlet to the wall, then tighten the screw to secure it in place.
