Whether you are longing to live off the grid in the country or you just love seeing how stuff is made, this video is so amazing to watch. This man in Canada builds himself a log cabin in the woods from start to finish in one concise little video package. He even cuts down the trees and preps the logs he uses for his lovely country home and arranges them like Lincoln Logs, which was always my favorite toy as a child. As I watched this brave ingenious man build this awesome log cabin, I learned a lot as well. I did not know that the mortar between the logs was called chinking and you need that to create a seal and protect the cabin against rain, snow, and sleet. logs can also buckle, twist, cup, and bow and this makes it near impossible to build a log cabin with logs that notch together perfectly without any gaps. The man in the video makes his own traditional chinking from clay, mud, sand, and grass and everything he does is a dream for the off the grid purists out there. As I said, the video is a neat little timelapse package and takes you through every stage from start to finish. Some highlights were:

Cutting down the trees and prepping the logs, then fitting the logs together pre chinking.

Then he builds a beautiful roof on the log cabin, this part really brought the project together.

Then he built the mos awesome porch for his cabin.

Then he trimmed out the inside and installed a root cellar in the floor.

I really enjoyed this video I hope you will too.

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
