The quilt as you go method is so easy and makes so much sense if you don’t want to spend a load of time quilting in the traditional quilt top first method. I love doing quilt as you go blocks, but I came to an abrupt halt when I actually had to join my blocks together because they are a little bulky because they already contain the batting, so you may want to learn this method to ensure an even transition from block to blanket. I first got my pre quilted blocks together and cut long strips of fabric 1 inch wide, it doesn’t matter how long they are, they just need to fit.

Directions:

Attach your strips to either side of your 9 inch square pre quilted block and clamp down and sew.

Then you add the next pre quilted block piece on to the back of the strip clamp it down and sew together.

Then your front will look like this when you fold it out.

The back basically follows the same method, you simply have to keep it tucked in to sew it down, I like to do it right at my machine so I am ready to go. I’m so glad I found this method, I hope everyone enjoys it and finds it helpful.
