This family chili recipe by Joanna Gaines on YouTube uses all canned foods which makes it an affordable and easy meal for dinner. It’s a convenient recipe because some people may stock up with their pantry with canned foods. I love chili during the winter because it’s cozy and comforting. Family recipes are fun to make because everyone has their own touch, however, chili recipes are all similar but there are minor differences such as the style of beans or how to serve it. Chili is one of those meals that warm up your heart and belly. Plus, it’s a filling meal to have because beans are a good protein and carb.

Ingredients:

  • 2 lb ground beef
  • diced onions
  • 2 (10 oz) can mild diced tomatoes and green chilies
  • cornbread mix, optional (to serve with the chili)
  • 2 (26 oz) can Ranch-style beans
  • garlic powder
  • corn chips, optional
  • shredded cheese, optional

Directions

First, grilled the diced onions in a pot and add the ground beef once the onions are translucent. Cook until browned and add the ranch-style beans and diced tomatoes and green chilies. Let it heat up and cook for about 5-10 minutes. Then, lower down the heat to let it simmer for a couple hours.

Overall, I love that she has cornbread on the side to serve with the chili because I’ve never had the combination before. It’s a simple chili recipe that doesn’t require many steps or ingredients. However, I like to add color to my chili so I add fresh jalapenos and garnish with parsley or cilantro. It’s so classic having corn chips with chili because that’s a traditional way I’ve had it growing up.
