This is such a great idea! I’m surprised I haven’t seen this done yet, and I’ve seen a lot of mason jar DIY projects! For those of you who love bright colors this will fit right in with your decor. This would also be something cute for a child’s room too!

Don’t be intimidated at the idea of making your own lamp!  I found an easy adapter at that screws onto any mason jar, making an instant lamp with no drilling, no assembly, and no fuss.  It’s french-wired (meaning the wire remains outside the jar), so you can fill and refill a clean mason jar with actual treats, if you want to!

Assembly is so, so easy!  Just pour in the jellybeans, screw on the adapter, add the shade and bulb and you’re ready to go!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Quart mason jar (I used wide mouth)
  • Canning jar adapter (wide mouth to match, but it also comes in a narrow mouth variety, if you prefer)
  • 6.5 inch lamp shade (or bigger would work fine, but I wouldn’t go any smaller)
  • 32 oz jellybeans
  • 60 watt light bulb

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
