Though Vicks Vaporub wasn’t intended by the makers to treat your toenail fungus, recent studies have shown that it can actually be used effectively in treating toenail fungus due to its eucalyptus and menthol ingredients. This method by Your Health TV on YouTube will show you how to properly use Vicks in controlling your toenail problems.
Step 1
First, trim the area of the toenail that is affected by the nail fungus. After using the clippers, cleanse it with hot soapy water immediately, then rinse it with rubbing alcohol. When washing your foot, make sure that you pay special attention to your nails, then dry them thoroughly with a clean towel. Using a spoon, scoop out some of the Vicks from their container, then use the scooped-out portion and apply it to your toenail. Make sure to cover the nail completely, as well as under the nail and down into the cuticle. It’ll be easier to get the Vicks in the edges and under your nail by using some cotton swab.

Step 2
Rub the Vicks thoroughly and cover the toe with a bandage or sock, this will help the toe absorb the Vicks better and avoid it from rubbing off on your sheets. Repeat this twice a day, in the morning and evening. It may take up to five months before you see progress, but make sure that you keep your toenails trimmed, dry, and clean regularly to prevent the nail fungus from developing. Immediately wash all towels used on the affected foot, see your physician if your fungus appears to be getting worse instead of better or if you experience pain, redness, or swelling of the toe.
