When cables are new, they are often folded or rolled because they are easier to pack and bring anywhere that way. Sometimes, the way you fold and twist them might remain no matter how much you fix or straighten them which can lead to breaking or cutting the wire inside the protective rubber of the cable. If this or how it looks annoys you, then there’s a quick hack that you can try to straighten a cable in seconds. You wouldn’t need any chemicals and products or even exert that much effort at all.

This trick works in just a few minutes using only hot water. But, before you get worried about potentially breaking the cable or exposing yourself to danger, take note that you would only need to submerge the cable coated with the protective rubber and not the ends of the plug or cable itself. However, you should make sure that there are not cuts, holes, or openings along the body of the cable where water can seep through, especially, if it is an old one. For now, learn this clever trick by Smart Fox on YouTube.
Step 1
Heat water to 60-80 degrees, then pour it into a tray, bowl, or container that’s large enough to submerge the cable.
Step 2
Hold the two ends of the cable at the top and remember that under no circumstances should they come in contact with water.
Step 3
Put only the body of the cable down in the water, then keep it there for about 3 to 4 minutes, and use a spoon to press it down the water so you don’t burn your fingers.
Step 4
Once the time is up, pull the cable out of the water, then wipe it dry with a clean cloth, and smooth the cable out with your fingers while the rubber is still soft.
