Scissors can be used and found anywhere in your house, it can be in your kitchen, your craft room, or even your bathroom. It is an essential tool that makes opening and cutting stuff easier, but using them over time can dull their edges, it can also happen if you use the wrong pair of scissors to cut the wrong item. So as much as possible, try to assign a different pair of scissors for different items or tasks, and if they start becoming too dull, then sharpen them using this technique by Right On With Jon Crane on YouTube.

Materials:

  • Diamond sharpening stone
  • Scissors
  • Hammer

Directions:

Step 1

Place a big flat sharpening stone on your work surface, then open the scissor up, and lay it down flat on the stone. Push the scissors forward while still holding them down and flat on the stone, then pull them back, and continue doing this motion to flatten the edges of your scissors. Keep working on it until you see it flat, then flip it over, and repeat it on the other blade of the scissors. Once done, turn it over, and start polishing the tip or the micro bevel of your scissors.

Step 2

Next, hold the pair of scissors sideways using a clamp, then hold the scissors open, and rub a handheld diamond polishing stone all over the inner bevel starting with the coarse side of the stone first. Once done, switch over to the fine side of the stone, then continue rubbing all over the bevel, and repeat on the other blade. If the scissors are loose, lay them on top of a piece of wood, then hammer them down the center, and check if it’s tight enough.
