Here’s a fun sewing project that you can try over this weekend! With only 2 pieces of fat quarters, you can make a reversible large bowl cozy in just a few minutes. No need to worry about being a beginner in sewing, because this project is super simple and easy. Learn how through this video tutorial by Shabby Fabrics on YouTube.
Step 1
Grab your fat quarters and cut them into 15 inches squares, then place a piece of batting straight on top of the wrong side of the fabrics. Fold the fabric in half, find the midpoint and cut a triangular notch, open the fabric and fold on the opposite half, find the midpoint, and notch a triangle again. Curve the corners as well, fold them in half with their right sides together, then pin them in place. Sew the diagonal cut next to the fold on each side of the fabric with a ¼ seam allowance. Spread the fabric open and set it aside, fold it in the opposite way, then repeat sewing the diagonal cut.

Step 2
Press open the seams with an iron, then repeat the process to the other pair of cozy. Once done, place the right side of the cozies together and match the seams, then pin them in place. Mark the area where you’ll leave an opening, but make sure it’s away from the seam, then sew around with a ¼ seam allowance back tacking at both ends of the gap. Remove the pins and turn the fabric right side out through the hole. Poke the corners nicely, press and tuck the seams of the opening, then clip it in place, and sew it close.
