I always wanted to learn quilting, and when I finally had the opportunity, I took the chance, and the rest was history. One of my early favorite quilting tutorials is this one from Sew Yeah on YouTube. I’ve learned how to make a four-patch, and it’s my first ever four-patch quilt. It’s simple, making it so easy for me as a beginner to understand every step.

Even though I’ve been quilting for quite some time, this pattern is still one of my go-to, especially when I need something quick or just want to pass some time. I also made this to test some of my favorite charm packs to see if they will match. So. if you’re still searching for your first ever complete quilt, I highly recommend you try this pattern – you won’t regret it, trust me. Watch the video tutorial below to learn the step by step instructions.
Fabric A (charm pack – 2)
Fabric B (background – 1 1/2 yards)
To start, cut all the fabric requirements accordingly and set them aside. Next, mix and match your 5″ x 5″ squares, make them scrappy, then sew these together with a 1/4″ seam allowance to create a four-patch. Once done, press it to the dark side, then trim it down to 6 1/2″ x 6 1/2″. Repeat these steps to make more four-patch units.

Once you have all your units, start assembling the quilt top. Lay the four-patch pieces and white squares alternating one another to create a row. Repeat these to make more rows, then sew those rows to complete the quilt top.
