Making aprons doesn’t always have to be hard and complicated, it can be simple and easy but still, look pretty. Just like this tutorial by A Good Life Farm via YouTube, both expert and beginner seamstress could enjoy this sewing project. In just a few minutes, you’ll have a comfy and durable farmhouse apron that you can make out of your favorite fabric or even repurpose old ones.
Step 1
Make sure that your fabrics are washed and pressed with an iron to make sewing them easier. Start by folding over about half an inch of the hem around the edges of the body of the apron, then press it with an iron. Fold it once more, press with an iron, then sew the hem into place. Fold the pockets in half across with the right sides in, then fold the straps in half the long way, right sides in. Sew all of these with a 5/8 inch seam allowance from the edge of the fabric. Leave an opening unsewn on the pockets and strap so that you can turn it right side out. Once done sewing, turn the pockets and straps right side out. Press them with an iron.

Step 2
Fold the apron in half and mark the center of the apron with a pin. Place the hip pockets about 8.5 inches from the top of the apron, and 5 inches from the edge (you can adjust this if you want it attached lower), pin them into place. Then, place the chest pocket centered on the apron and about 2 ½ inches from the top edge of the apron, pin it into place. Sew them around as close to the edge of the pocket as you can. Sew the apron straps 4 inches apart from each other, at the top center of the apron marked by the pin. Lay your apron face down with the straps above. Fold the right side of the apron over, just past the center. Then, take the left strap and pin it into place inside the corner. Then, the left side of the apron over to the right strap and into the corner. Sew them into place.
