Directions:

Step 1

The first thing that you have to do is to print out the pattern, then trace and outline the leaves, stems, and borders onto a piece of wool felt. After outlining, Pinch the fabric, then snip at the bottom of the stem’s lining, and start cutting it through. Repeat the same process with the leaves until you’ve cut them all out and trim off the stem a bit so that it can show the fabric at the back later. Lay a piece of parchment paper at the top of your work surface, then place the wool felt with its wrong side facing up, and start applying adhesive around each leaf. Grab a piece of flannel, then gently place it over the wool felt piece with its right side facing down so that it would show on the cutouts at the front, and press it down lightly to make sure it’s properly adhered.

Step 2

Flip the piece over, then lay it on top of another wool felt piece making sure that their wrong sides are facing together, then line up the edges, and pin the center together in place. Insert three strands of thread on the needle to make the stitching thick, then start one stitch under the upper piece, and insert it back down to include the pieces underneath. Continue sewing the piece using running stitches that are about a quarter-inch away from each other. If you can’t see or trace the border onto the fabric, then simply sew an outer border that is a quarter-inch away from the seam and the inner border a quarter-inch away from the outer border. Once done, sew the rest of the pieces using the same processes to complete 4 pieces of placemats.
