With all those events and holidays that passed by, you may have been left with a lot of wine corks. You may be keeping it for long not knowing what to do with it and this might be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. This trivet is very handy to use as a pot or kettle stand, it is also much better than iron as it has flat and soft edges, it minimizes the scratch that it may cause to your kitchen surface or pots and kettles. This handmade project made by Dearborn Heights Library on YouTube is very easy to make, doesn’t require many materials, and is cost-effective. You can make a lot of cork trivets in only a few minutes, so if you wanted to, you can give them away or sell them.
Step 1
Prepare your working surface and cover it with a newspaper or cardboard to avoid having unwanted materials stuck to your work area. Then, start sorting the wine corks to your preference, you may group them according to size, pattern, design, or color, but this step is completely optional because you can still arrange the corks randomly or however you want.

Step 2
Pattern your wine corks to visualize how you want your trivets to look like, again, you can arrange and pattern it whichever way you want. Once your set with the pattern, start attaching them by applying glue on the sides. Be generous with the glue and apply pressure, you can use a toothpick to spread the glue more and cover the bridges completely. Let it dry completely before using.
