Whenever you received or bought some flowers, have you ever thought about how nice it would be if you can just keep them forever without wilting? What if you can actually do that and preserve them for a long time using only some detergent and cornmeal? This great tutorial by 20 Mule Team Borax on YouTube will you show how to do that with only a few simple steps!
Step 1
Grab some fresh flowers, then cut off the stem just below the bud, and air dry or pat them dry with a paper towel, the flowers need to be completely dried before proceeding to the next step. In a large mixing bowl, simply mix together one part of borax with 2 parts of cornmeal until uniform and well combined, make sure that your mixture is enough to fill a small airtight container. Next, pour a small amount of borax cornmeal mixture into the bottom of the container about ½-1 inch, then place the flowers on top, and gently fill them with the mixture making sure to get in between each petal of the bud and covering just above the flowers.

Step 2
Once done covering the flowers (make sure to leave enough headspace on the container), seal the container, then let it sit for about 1- to 14 days in a warm, dry room. After a few weeks, check the flowers and make sure that they are completely dry before removing them from the mixture. Once dry, carefully pour out the mixture, then once you see the tip of the petals, gently remove the flowers. Turn the flowers upside down, then gently shake them to remove the rest of the mixture in between the petals.
