Appliques are so wonderful-looking on a quilt, they really can make a quilt look so homey and special. Appliques are not difficult to make, but you just have to shift gears a bit from what you are used to in traditional quilting. I recently found this awesome applique video tutorial by Fat Quarter Shop featuring Lori Holt, on YouTube, and I realized how easy it was to do appliques. What Lori does in this video is so simple and easy to understand, she uses templates from The Fat Quarter Shop, which are free downloads.
Materials For Sewing An Applique Block:
- Fabric (colors of your choice, depending on what template you use)
- Free downloadable template
- Fabric glue (Sue Daley glue is best)
- Embroidery thread
- Regular thread
- Embroidery scissors
- A cutting mat
- A rotary cutter
- A bias tape maker
