Are you currently dealing with insects in your plants? They might be annoying and troublesome if not treated well, especially if you are a beginner in gardening. Here’s a great and easy solution to finally get rid of them. Learn how to make soapy water garden insect spray with this informative tutorial by Gary Pilarchik (The Rusted Garden) on Youtube. This can be used for soft-bodied insects and aphid infestation. Do not use the soap for lettuce, spinach, and lighter greens as you don’t want to eat soap. Watch the video below for a full-depth explanation of how to properly use this solution.
When making an insecticidal spray, choose a pure soap that doesn’t have additives. Do not use hand soap, look at dish soaps. You can use Ivory, Nature’s Promise, or others that you can find. Dish soap with colors is usually a sign that it has degreasers or antibacterial.
Add 2 tablespoons of pure soap to the gallon of water then shake well. Always test spray. If you notice that it is not working, move to 4 tablespoons. Start with a lower amount, use that recipe and build up to the higher.
Transfer the solution to the spray bottle. Spray once on your plants then wait for 24 hours. After 24 hours, inspect the plant and if you still see them you can spray again.
Note: If you are using oil, use your soap just enough to have the oil dispersed all the way through the water. Put a couple of drops and mix. Remember that the more things you add to your plant leaf the greater risk you have of damaging the leaf, so you want to lessen the soap.
