Start by preheating your oven to 400F and lining a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Add flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Whisk until well combined. Add diced cold butter. Using a pastry cutter, cut the butter into the flour mixture until pea-sized butter crumbs form. Gently stir in flavor add-ins if adding. Once done, refrigerate it.
Get a small bowl, and add cream, eggs, and vanilla. Beat everything with a fork until well blended. Remove the flour mixture from the refrigerator and pour the cream mixture. Fold with a spatula just until moistened – make sure not to over-mix it. If it’s dry, you can add a tablespoon of cream. If it’s too moist, sprinkle it with flour.
Place the dough onto a clean work surface and make it into a ball just so it comes together, then flatten it into a 1-inch thick and 7-inch wide disk. Divide it into 8 equal wedges – cut straight down without using a sawing motion.
Arrange them 1 inch apart on a lined baking sheet. Brush the tops with cream, then sprinkle coarse sugar. Place in the refrigerator for 15 minutes before baking.
Bake the scones for 18-22 minutes or until golden on top and the center is baked through. Remove it from the oven and let it cool completely.
While waiting for it to cool, make the glaze. In a small bowl, add powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon of milk, and vanilla. Mix until well blended. It should have a drizzling consistency. If it’s too thick, add more powdered sugar, if it’s too thin, add more milk. Drizzle it over the cooled scones. Enjoy!
