One of my all-time favorite dishes for dinner is anything that includes potatoes! Especially, if they are creamy, cheesy, and yummy, just like this scalloped potatoes recipe by Cookedbyjulie on YouTube. Your family will surely love when you serve this delicious food over dinner paired with some baked or roasted chicken.
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees, then grease your baking dish, and set it aside. Wash the potatoes well, then peel off their skin, and slice them evenly using a mandolin. Place a medium-sized saucepan on a stove over high heat, then melt the butter before adding the all-purpose flour, and whisk them together until well combined and the flour is cooked. Add the fresh garlic, then give them a good toss, and cook for an additional 30 seconds. Slowly stir in the milk and lower the heat setting to medium.

Step 2
Once the sauce thickens, turn off the heat, then add the salt and nutmeg, and whisk them to combine before adding the cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Whisk them together until well combined and the cheese has melted. Place a quarter of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish, then pour over a quarter of the béchamel sauce, and sprinkle a quarter of the remaining cheese. Repeat the layers until you’ve used up all of the potatoes, sauce, and cheese. Cover it with aluminum foil, then bake it in the preheated oven for about 1 hour or until the potatoes are fork tender. Remove the aluminum foil, then bake for about 10 more minutes or until the cheese is golden brown, serve and enjoy!
