They are sweet and have an intense orange flavor. When you make them, be sure not to include the white part of the oranges, and if they are thick, you have to blanch them several times. Wait until they are translucent, then coat them in granulated sugar. Some people even dip them in chocolate. It is the perfect treat as it has the perfect balance of sweetness and bitterness.

Easy Candied Orange Peels Ingredients

  • oranges
  • sugar
  • water

 

How to Make Homemade Candied Orange Peels

Step 1:

Start by thoroughly washing the skin of the oranges then pat them dry.

Step 2:

Using a peeler, peel the skin of the oranges. Make sure not to get the white part.

Step 3:

Add into a pan filled with water over heat. Bring it to a boil to take the bitterness out. Once it starts to boil, drain and rinse it. Put the same amount of water back to the pan with the peels and boil it again. If the peel is too thick, you need to blanch it three times.

Step 4:

Add into a skillet and add a little bit of water and some sugar. Cook until it crystallizes and is transparent in color.

Step 5:

Sprinkle sugar in a flat container, coat the peels one by one on all sides. Be careful as they are hot. Place on a wire rack and let them dry.  You can also dip them in melted chocolate.

Step 6:

Place on a zip lock bag to store.
