Another quilt tutorial from my girl, the Kansas City Star herself, Ms. Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Company. Ms. Jenny has done it again with this fabulous Irish Change quilt. The great thing about this quilt is that we all have those beautiful pieces of heirloom fabrics that we don’t want to cut because we lose the textile pattern that we fell in love with, in the first place, but with this quilt, you only have to make one type of a block made strictly with solids and all the beautiful print fabric blocks are simply ten-inch squares that are literally untouched. I realized when watching this fabulous video tutorial from Jenny Doan that if I had pieces fabric I didn’t want to cut, that this was the exact quilt for me. Did I forget to mention how easy it was? It is the easiest big quilt pattern I have ever seen.

Materials:

  • 10 Pack of 10 X 10-inch squares (or use the existing heirloom fabrics you love)
  • 1 1/2 yards accent fabric
  • 3 1/2 yards background fabric (includes inner border)
  • 1 3/4 yards fabric (for outer border)
  • 1 yard of fabric (for binding)
  • 9 1/4 yards of fabric (for backing)

Directions:

In this fantastic video tutorial, Jenny will take you step by step through the easy method of making to only actual sewn block that this quilt calls for, and it’s super easy guys.
