I recently saw this DIY vacuum cleaner by Navin Khambhala on Youtube, and I had to chuckle when I first laid eyes on the homemade canister vacuum because it was such a cute idea. This could be a fun project to do while spending time indoors. The cutest part of this project is the homemade fan you will make out of a can, you could use a Coke can to make it extra cute. The little DIY fan can even be attached to a clamp and used to cool down while you are sitting at your desk area. Apart from the usefulness of this project, it is just awesome to know how stuff works and this is a great example of how a vacuum cleaner actually sucks up the dirt in your home.

Materials:

  • An old soda bottle
  • A box cutter (or Exacto knife)
  • A small motor
  • A can (to cut a fan)
  • Some wires
  • Styrofoam
  • A hose

Directions:

First, you will cut your bottle into sections to make the canister portion of your vacuum cleaner. Then you will cut a can in the shape of a fan and add a motor to the back of it. This will form the suction part of the vacuum cleaner.

Then you will glue your fan and motor inside the end of your bottle. Then in the video tutorial by Navin Khambhala, you will learn to cut the handles out of styrofoam and put your whole project together.

I just can’t wait to make this DIY vacuum, what a conversation piece.

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
