Summer is almost here and most of us are getting excited about having some fun in the sun. This beach towel idea by Gurl.com on Youtube has really put me in the mood to start getting prepared for some trips to Lake Travis and Barton Springs in my hometown of Austin, Texas. I recently bought a bunch of beach towels on sale at the West Elm outlet store and I was very excited about the idea of being able to use them for fashion projects as well as towels for laying out. The really great thing about this towel tote is the fact that the tote bag actually is your towel so this idea eliminates the need for a separate bag to carry your towel. With this towel tote idea,  you only have to unfold the rest of the towel on the inside and lay it out on a lawn chair to have a comfortable mat to lay on and enjoy the sun.

Materials:

• One beach towel (or bath towel)
• One small hand towel
• A piece of elastic
• Thread
• Scissors
• Optional: (a sewing machine will be great for this project)

Directions:

In this excellent tutorial, you will learn to measure and attach your elastic straps, then lay your two towels out and attach them together. If you have a sewing machine, this project is super fast.

Then, you roll your towel up and it fits very nicely into the bag, and there is still plenty of room for your phone, your sunglasses, and a few snacks.

This beach towel tote is so amazing, I really cannot wait to make this and get outside with it.
