My all-time favorite quilter on Youtube has to be Donna Jordan of Jordan Fabrics. Donna is so down to Earth and really explains quilting in a way we can all easily understand.  I am always on the lookout for a new quilt pattern idea, so when I saw this phenomenal sunburst video quilting tutorial by Donna Jordan on Youtube, I knew I needed to make it. As usual, Donna does not disappoint, she offers her tips and advice to make this beautiful quilt idea as easy as possible. I love quilting all year round, but making what will become family heirlooms in the summertime is very important to me because summer is my favorite time of year. I love seeing a sunburst of colors reflected in my all of my summer art projects. So I decided to get a fat quarter bundle in a beautiful summer-themed array of brightly colored florals and try my hand at making this wonderful abstract sunburst design.

Materials:

For A Throw Size Quilt:

  • 7 fat quarters
  • 4 1/3 yards backing fabric
  • 1 yard each of (2) different accent fabrics
  • A sewing machine
  • Scissors
  • A rotary cutter
  • A cutting mat
  • A quilter’s ruler

Directions:

In this phenomenal sunburst video quilting tutorial by Donna Jordan on Youtube, Donna teaches us how to make this quilt in a few simple steps. You start by cutting your strips and sewing them right sides together to make tubes. When you cut triangles out of the tubes, you will instantly have squares.

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
