I recently found this excellent jean purse video tutorial by SpGasporovich & House Of Creativity on YouTube, which showed step by step how to make a jean purse from a pair of old recycled jeans. The video shows how to cut the jean legs and sew a basic small tote crossbody shaped purse with no pattern. There are lots of tutorials on how to make jean purses and totes out there, but this particular pattern had a few standout details that I felt really made it special, such as the fact the purse has 2 useful zippers and a sturdy lining. You can either sew this bag on a sewing machine or put it together using a fabric glue like Liquistitch, Fabritac. The zippers are placed at the front of the upcycled jean purse, which makes it a very attractive and useful wardrobe accessory. Another really interesting feature of this bag is the long shoulder strap. There are many many alternative ideas that you can come up with to put your own spin on this idea, such as making the entire project with fabric glue and reinforcing pressure points with embroidery thread. The sky is the limit on a project like this and remember, as with all DIY, it is your creation and the sky is the limit and it can be however you want it to because there is no right or wrong way to do this. This is your rodeo, so ride cowgirl!
In this excellent jean purse video tutorial by SpGasporovich & House Of Creativity on YouTube, you will be taken step by step through the making of this sewing project. You will start by cutting all your fabric sections as per instructions in the tutorial.
Then, you will sew the outer body of the bag and attach the interfacing and lining. Next, you will sew the shoulder strap and attach it to the bag.
I just love this purse, I can’t wait to make mine!
