Don’t put your old t-shirt to waste just yet because you can easily repurpose and turn it into a pillow through this video tutorial by SewVeryEasy on YouTube. It only takes a few simple sewing materials and very easy steps that even beginners in sewing can follow. Read the full instructions down below to learn how.

Materials:

  • An old t-shirt
  • Scissors or rotary cutter and a cutting mat
  • Wax paper
  • Marking pen
  • Fusible fleece
  • Poly-fil fiberfill
  • Needle and matching thread
  • Sewing machine

Directions:

Step 1

The first thing that you have to do is to place wax paper on top of the front of the shirt, then trace around the part of the shirt that you want to keep and do whatever size or shape of the pillow that you want. Next, cut the wax paper, then set it aside, and use it as a template later. Cut the t-shirt apart as close to the seams as you can, then give it a good press, make sure to press from the backside to not damage the design at the front just in case.

Step 2

Place a piece of fusible fleece on the wrong side of the front piece of the t-shirt as well as the back, then give them a good press to fuse them together. Lay them on top of each other with their right sides facing, then sew them together around the seams, but leave a gap for turning later. Once done sewing, turn it right side out, then start stuffing it with poly-fil fiberfill or anything you want to stuff it with.
