Got some fabric but don’t know what to do with it? Why don’t you try this super easy and adorable sewing project by Amanda Rolfe on YouTube? In just a few minutes and very simple steps, you’ll learn how to make a nice waist apron using only one piece of fabric!
Step 1
First, give your fabric a good press using a hot and steamy iron, then fold the fabric in half lengthwise making sure the seam edges meet. Trim off the uneven edges, then measure 3.5 inches and cut out two strips from it, this will be the ties of the apron, but for now, you can set them aside. Open the fabric and fold it across, measure 12 inches from the right side of the fabric and cut it out, set this aside as this will be the pocket of the apron later.
Grab the pieces of cut-out fabrics for the ties, then trim off the uneven edges of each strip. Fold them in half with their wrong sides facing each other, sew them with a ¼ inch seam allowance starting on the shorter side of the fold, then continue sewing all the way down the long side making sure to leave a gap at the other oned of the fabric. Repeat the process on the other piece of the tie, then turn them right side out, and give them a good press.

Step 2
Grab the apron pocket fabric piece, then spread it open, and lay it lengthwise. From the side, measure about 16 inches and cut the fabric out setting the smaller piece away. Sew around each side of the fabric to prevent the edges from fraying. Fold the fabric over on the two shorter sides into about ½ inches, then give them a good press. Repeat the process at the bottom of the apron pocket making sure that the salvaged edges are on top. Fold the fabric on top over with a 1½ inch seam allowance, then press. Create a pointed mitered on the corners of the apron, then sew the matching trims and ribbons on top of the apron pocket’s upper right side.
Grab the fabric for the apron front, then fold it across in half, and trim off the salvaged edges on the right side. Sew around the fabric with a basic zigzag stitch, then fold each edge over to about ½ inch, and give them a good press. Miter each of the corners, then stitch them all into place. Sew the ties as well as the pocket into the apron, then sew a straight stitch down the center of the pocket to split them into two sections.
