You will begin by making little diagonal cuts all along the sides of the zip tie. You may even want to get a small pair of pliers to bend them out a little making hooks. Just like a hangnail always catches knitted fabric or hair, these small cuts will catch and collect any excess debris that might be clogging the drain.

Then you will just poke the long zip tie, that has the nicks all down the side down the drain and work it all around. Then, you will easily be able to pull out all of the debris clogging your drain.
