A good cutting board can last for years and cutting boards can really be a centerpiece to a wonderful family kitchen. When I saw this video by Wengles Workshop on Youtube I really fell in love with the idea of making my own cutting board. Wengle has such a lovely story as well, he explains how he collected hardwood after Hurricane Mathew then cleaned and stored the wood for a future project. Then one day he decided to make a cutting board using sections of the wood glued and clamped together, the results of Wengles’ labor was nothing short of amazing, he turned old hurricane logs into the most beautiful cutting board I have ever seen. The woodworking in the video is so amazing and relaxing to watch, even if you don’t end up making a cutting board, Wengle is downright inspirational to watch.

Materials:

  • Hardwood (or precut sections of wood from Home Depot)
  • Wood Glue
  • A Saw (circular, band, or a regular manual saw)
  • Wood Clamps (large enough for the cutting board)

Directions:

In the video, you will be taken step by step through the process of prepping your wood and get a complete instructional on gluing and fastening the wood pieces together.

Then you will be shown how to clamp your wood together, how long to leave the wood clamped, and how to sand and finish the cutting board into a lustrous shine.

This video really enriched my life just knowing people still actually did things like this.

Since I lover experiments, I’ve alwaysnloved to create, paint, as well as cook and style food. I feel in love with DIY as soon as I discovered it and could not have been more excited when I learned I could share projects with people around the world. Taking photos is a passion of mine, as is design and painting with oils. I love holidays and celebrations, crafting cute little gifts and serving up at least one new recipe I am excited about.
