I love the look of succulents on the patio so I’m always on the lookout for a new succulent idea that can accommodate my plants well and also look architecturally stunning as well. While searching YouTube for new ideas for my Summer patio, I found this absolutely gorgeous cinder block planter idea by A Creative Traveler, which is a wonderful YouTube channel that is packed with great gardening ideas. A Creative Traveler takes you through this awesome project from start to finish and the materials he uses are very cheap and can be found at any hardware store or gardening supply company. I really love the look of this art piece planter, it has nice elevation and fits nicely into any corner, giving you garden or patio a sense of dimension.

Materials:

  • Cinder blocks (this can vary, depending on how large you want your project to be)
  • Landscaping fabric (for the bottoms of the cinder blocks)
  • Caulk glue (for attaching the fabric to your cinder blocks)
  • Primer (enough for one coat on the cinder blocks)
  • Paint (in the color of your choice, enough for one coat)
  • Plants (Succulents are used, but this project lends itself to any type of greenery or flowers)
  • Potting soil

Directions:

First, you will prime and paint your cinder blocks for a finished look or you could leave them in their raw natural state, that is up to you, depending on what sort of look you want to achieve. Then just glue your landscaping fabric down to the bottom of each cinder block.

Then like real-life Tetris you just arrange the cinder blocks along your wall.
