Recently, I saw this lattice quilt video tutorial by Midnight Quilt Show on YouTube, which is absolutely perfect for beginners. The entire quilt is made from a jelly roll, which are pre-cut strips of fabric in a neat little roll. All the strips in a jelly roll are cut with pinking shears to prevent fraying, so they make the beginner’s job really easy. The Midnight Quilting Show is known for its simple beginner quilt patterns and their no-nonsense method of teaching. This lattice quilt can be put together in a very short amount of time and the actual fastening of the batting and backing is so easy because you will be using all straight stitch lines.

Materials:

  • A jelly roll
  • Some solid fabric (whatever you wish your dominant color to be)
  • Thread
  • A sewing machine
  • A rotary cutter
  • A pair of scissors
  • A quilter’s ruler
  • A cutting mat

Directions:

In this lattice quilt video tutorial by Midnight Quilt Show on YouTube, you will learn to make this easy quilt by learning a few basic ideas. You will first cut your strips and lay them together in the lattice pattern, then sew and press.
