#1

It’s not necessary to rinse the dishes before putting them into the dishwasher. Simply scrape off all the big pieces from the plates, then place them in the machine.

#2

Load the coffee mugs or cups in the top rack in an angled form to allow the water to run off completely. You also don’t want to put the glasses over the tines as it can cause them to jump around a bit. Put the plastic items in the top rack as well. Lastly, place a few cooking utensils along the side (never put wood utensils in the dishwasher), then throw your scrub inside to keep them fresh and clean.

#3

Load the plates, bowls, and larger items like pots, pans, and baking sheets on the bottom rack. Make sure that the dirty side is always pointed towards the center so the water and soap will reach all the cracks and crevices of the dishes.

#4

If you have a separator in your utensil basket, put the utensils facing up and group them by type. For the knives, put them facing down. If you don’t have a separator, instead of putting them facing up, alternate them to make sure all the sides will get rinsed.

#5

Once you’re done loading up, check a few things before you run the machine. Ensure the spray arms spin freely and are not blocked. Check the dishwasher filter if it’s not clogged, and lastly, don’t overload your dishwasher.
