Materials:

  • 3 kg or about 6.5 pounds of tomatoes
  • Kitchen tin can lid sealer
  • Large canning jars

Directions:

Step 1

Give the tomatoes a good rinse under running water, then scrub them with your hands to remove any dirt that could be stuck, and remove the stems. Drain off excess water, then slightly slice the top of each tomatoes’ skin, and place them in a deep round pan in a single layer, place them in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) and bake them for about 20 minutes. Grab your large, clean, sterilized, and dry canning jars, then insert each tomato alternately so that they have enough space, and are not cramped inside the jar.

Step 2

In a large pot filled with hot boiling water, enough to submerge up to half of the jars’ body, place a piece of cloth or towel on the bottom of the pot to avoid the glass jars from bursting. Place each jar carefully inside the pot, then let the water continue to boil with the jars in it for about 20 minutes. Grab a towel and carefully remove each jar, then place them on top of another dry towel, and wipe away the moisture from each jar. Grab the kitchen tin can lid sealer and close the jar lids tightly. This can be stored in a cool place for up to 2 years.
