Growing fresh potatoes is something I have always wanted to do, but always thought that I needed a vast area of land, and a planned garden to be able to do successfully. I began to have a completely different take on this delicious root vegetable when I discovered this potato growing idea inside a laundry basket video tutorial by Elise New on YouTube, I just knew I had to try it. I was amazed at the possibility of being able to grow gorgeous potatoes in a small space, such as a patio or porch. This project is so fantastic, even the person with hardly any outdoor space at all can grow a wonderful potato crop.

Materials You Will Need To Make This Project:

  • A tall flexible laundry basket
  • Some good potting soil (you can get a large bag of organic paying soil for vegetables at Home Depot for about $7)
  • Potatoes to plant (sprouted)
  • Newspaper (for the bottom of the potato basket)
  • A knife (to cut holes in the bottom of the laundry basket)
