#1: Wash Dog Toys, Bed, and Blankets Regularly

The most important thing to do is to make sure that you wash your dog’s items regularly, especially toys, beds, and blankets because these are the ones that accumulate most of their saliva, and these are what cause the stink. You can wash dog toys with warm soapy water regularly, then for beds and blankets, it’d be best to wash them a minimum of once a month, and add a cup of vinegar to the washing machine when you wash them to help neutralize the odor.

#2: Wash Mops Regularly

Make sure to always wash your mops, especially if you have lots of dogs, it’s best to always remove the pad of your mop and give it a good wash after using. Don’t leave dirty mop heads on your mop because they will stink. You should keep a few pieces at hand and change them constantly as you maintain your floors.

#3: Clean Up Dogs

Another important tip is to clean up your dog’s pee or poop immediately and don’t allow it to just sit there and dwell. Cleaning them immediately lessens the time you will spend cleaning overall, especially if they peed on your carpet, using a carpet shampoo can help immensely in neutralizing the smell. First, rinse the area with water, then vacuum as much urine from the carpet as you can, and apply a generous amount of vinegar to the area. Let the vinegar sit for 4 to 5 minutes, then apply the carpet shampoo, vacuum it once again, and give it a good rinse. Allow it to dry for about 48 hours or until completely dry, you can fan it up to speed the process.

#4: Leave Things That Smell Good Lying Around

You can use cotton balls or dryer sheets and if you have plug-ins that works best, too. For cotton balls, simply add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, then put them in your trash can. If you want to use dryer sheets, then simply place them underneath your couch cushions, and leave them there. For a more inexpensive alternative, you could just use some vinegar and orange, and spray them on your dog’s kennel.

#5: Use Baking Soda

Once a month or once every two months, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda all over your carpet, then leave it there for at least 8 hours, and vacuum it up or do it the next morning for a more desirable effect. This a budget-friendly way to keep odors in your house neutralized.

#6: Open Your Windows

This one is pretty simple and self-explanatory, keeping your windows open can help air freely get in and outside your home, carrying out the bad odor, and bringing in fresh air. Keeping good air circulation can help a lot in making your home smell good and getting rid of bad odors quickly.

#7: Vacuum Regularly

Vacuum regularly not only your floors but also your couches and chairs. This is because dog hair can carry the scent and that dog hair is going to smell, and that smell will linger in the room. So make sure to always vacuum those hairs that your dogs leave on every surface.

#8: Get Your Dog Groomed

Keeping your dog groomed can lessen the time and amount of effort you spend on cleaning because there will be a lot less to clean. It’s best to bathe your dogs regularly, brush their teeth, and clip their nails as needed.
