Vicks are commonly used in households to ease various symptoms of colds, coughs, and more. But, Vicks have more use than you may think, and not just to make you feel better when you’re sick but also to repel unwanted and destructive pests that may be swarming in your house and even in your garden. All thanks to this video tutorial by Natural Health Remedies on YouTube. Also, make sure to use these hacks with utmost caution as Vicks may be harmful to your pets, so make sure to keep this as far away from them as possible.
1.) Bedbugs
They can’t stand the smell of Vicks and they are also known to hate essential oils. The menthol scent of Vicks makes them sick, too, so the best way to repel bed bugs is by applying Vicks to your hands, feet, neck, and any other exposed area of the skin before sleeping. You can also apply Vicks to the legs of the bed to prevent bed bugs from climbing onto the bed.

2.) Fleas
One of the main ingredients of Vicks is camphor and cedar leaf oil which are substances that act as repellent for insects, mosquitoes, and even fleas in their natural state. However, you should take caution when using this because Vicks isn’t good for your pet dog or cat because it contains camphor products, menthol, and nutmeg oil that are toxic to them. So make sure that this does not come anywhere near your pets.
3.) Mice and Rats
Crush about 2 pieces of cookie or any plain biscuit until powder, then add 2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1 teaspoon of Vicks, and mix them all together until well combined and dough-like. Shape them into small bait balls, then place them in areas where mice and rats usually appear, and it will kill them once ingested.
You can also repel other insects such as beetles, ants, spiders, slugs, snails, and fruit flies. Learn more details by watching the video tutorial below.
