Plastic cutting boards can be gross overtime and leave stains, but Andrea Jean Cleaning on YouTube demonstrates how to deep clean a plastic cutting board with an easy cleaning hack. This cleaning method uses items that you may already have around the house. I like using wooden cutting boards because you won’t be able to see the stains, but it’s good to use the plastic ones sometimes just so you can see how dirty cutting boards can actually get. Andrea Jean has so many cleaning tips and hacks on her YouTube channel that ranges to almost any cleaning idea that you may need. Plus, she uses a lot of ingredients that you may have around the house without having to buy other products.

Supplies:

  • cleaning vinegar
  • lemon
  • baking soda
  • green scrub pad
  • Borax

Directions:

First, add baking soda to the cutting board and squeeze the lemon on top. The acidity from the 2 ingredients causes a chemical reaction. This will cause the bubbles to rise. then use the lemon peel to scrub the mixture around. Let it sit for 10 minutes. Overall, it’s incredible how you can use simple ingredients to remove the stains. Also, it depends on how deep your stains are on the cutting board because the Borax is an extra step if you want it to be cleaner. I love seeing the before and after results because the results are no joke. I will need to try this out on my mom’s plastic cutting board.
