What You Need to Clean Stainless Steel Appliances
- 2 cups of water
- a few drops of dish soap
- microfiber cloth
- spray bottle
How to Clean Stainless Steel Appliances
Step 1:
Fill a spray bottle with water and add a few drops of dish soap. Place the cap and shake to mix.
Step 2:
Spray the stainless steel with the solution. Don’t spray too much. You don’t want your cleaner running down the surface because that could stain and leave water marks behind. Wipe with a damp microfiber towel. Make sure to wipe with the grain and not against it. This means following the direction of the visible lines you can see on the surface.
Step 3:
Get a clean and dry microfiber towel and use it to buff the surface. This step will not only dry the surface but also remove streaks and anything left behind on the surface.
Products You Should Use and Not Use
He recommends Bar Keeper Friends stainless steel cleaner & polish or Sprayway stainless steel cleaner & polish.
Keep in mind that many store-bought cleaners are oil-based or contain oil. He says they’re okay to use but using a ton of it can make the surface sticky and attract more dirt over time. Make sure to wipe it with a clean dry microfiber cloth after.
Avoid using olive oil or baby oil. They will make your stainless steel nice and shiny, but they will leave a sticky residue and create a buildup on the surface. You should also avoid steel wool, green and yellow scrubbers, and bleach.
Rust on Stainless Steel
